About Glaucoma Management
Glaucoma is a serious condition that can lead to vision loss if left untreated. Our glaucoma management services focus on early detection, monitoring, and customized treatment plans to control the pressure in your eyes and protect your vision. We offer both medical and surgical options to effectively manage this condition and preserve your sight.
Glaucoma
Most patients with glaucoma in the United States do not require glaucoma surgery. With today’s advanced and early glaucoma detection, eye doctors are now able to stabilize glaucoma sooner without resorting to surgery. However, even with the best care some glaucoma continues to progress. If one’s glaucoma progresses despite using eye drops and laser treatment, glaucoma surgery is sometimes indicated.
The Parschauer Eye Center is fortunate to have doctors on staff at Parschauer Eye Center. Dr. Igor Estrovich and Dr. Alexander Kosmidisare Ophthalmologists who specialize in glaucoma procedures.
Retina
The retina is a very delicate, thin tissue that lines the back of the eye. One’s eyeball is much like a camera with two high-power lenses and film in the back. The retina can be similar to a very high quality film. The retina gathers all of the visual information from the eye and sends the information along one million nerve fibers to the brain for processing. Even though the retina is approximately one square inch in the body, the information it gathers consumes approximately 60% of the brain’s total function.
Oculoplastics
The doctors at the Parschauer Eye Center not only examine the eyes, but also examine the tissues around the eyes. The eyelids and tear duct system are very intricate in the health of one’s eyes. All of the eye doctors at the Parschauer Eye Center diagnose and treat minor lid or tear duct problems.
If significant problems arise with the eyelids, the Parschauer Eye Center has an eyelid specialist available.
Cornea
Corneal transplantation, also known as corneal grafting or penetrating keratoplasty (PKP), is a surgical procedure typically performed by an Ophthalmologist with cornea subspecialty training. Parschauer Eye Center is pleased to have Dr. Eric Dudenhoefer and Dr. Kristina Thomas on our staff. They are Opthalmologists who specializes in corneal surgery.
